Oral Sedation
Oral sedation, use of an orally administered medication (pill) an hour before the appointment to achieve mild sedation. A thorough medical history evaluation is conducted to rule out any contraindications. The class of medications used is Benzodiazepine, which is usually used to aid with anxiety and sleep issues (insomnia). Appropriately administered, this is a safe modality and results in reduced levels of anxiety, with some patients experiencing some amnesia after the procedure is completed.
We offer family dental procedures performed in comfortable surroundings by Dr. Ahmed Al Attar at Family First Smiles. Additionally, we have the option of oral sedation, where a pill is administered approximately 1 hour before your visit to ensure you’re as comfortable and relaxed as possible throughout the entire appointment.
